Älpele
The Älpele is an alpine pasture in the Bockbach valley near Steeg. It is situated at 1791 m above sea level above the Bockbachalm. The starting point of the hike to the Älpele is the Bockbach junction on the main road in the direction of Warth. There are plenty of parking spaces and there is also a bus stop there. The path continues along an asphalted road, past the Alpine village of Birchetsgump to the front Bockbachalm. The Bockbachalm is on the left immediately after the bridge over the Bockbach. Up to here the hike runs on a narrow but asphalted road. At the Bockbach alpine pasture, a narrow path begins, which immediately becomes quite steep. It goes up the remaining 330 meters in constant gradient to Älpele hut, which is visible from afar. The alpine pasture is open from June to the end of September — but since summer season 2017 no more hosting! The walking time from the Bockbach junction is about 2 to 2.5 hours.
