Baumgartalm
The Baumgartalm lies at 1661 m in the Grießltal valley near alpine village Madau. The alpine hut lies below the 2509 m high Taja Spitze peak and is beautifully surrounded by the Lechtal Alps. Northwest of the alp lies the well-known Holzgauer Wetterspitze peak. From the Baumgartalm alpine hut you can see the Fallenbach waterfall and the impressive Fallenbacher Spitze mountain further back in the Grießltal valley. The hike to the alp starts in Bach village in the Lechtal valley. It goes first in southern direction along the road to Madau alpine village and after an ascent of about 200 meters it gets flatter. About 2 km further in Madautal valley the path branches off towards Baumgartalm hut into Grießltal valley. The gravel road to the alpine pasture is somewhat rougher than the goods road to Madau village and an ascent follows right at the beginning. You will pass the Grießlalm hut after another 30 minutes walking time. The Grießlalm hut lies above the path at 1403 m and is not farmed. The hike on the graveled road to Baumgartalm hut takes 2 to 2.5 hours. Baumgartalm hut is open from the beginning of July to the end of September. The hut is open from Thursday to Sunday — from Monday to Wednesday the alp is closed.
