Bernhardseck Hut
Bernhardseck is a small alpine village in the Allgäu Alps near Elbigenalp. The collection of several alpine huts lies at an altitude of 1812 m. Due to its special location it offers a wonderful view into the lower Lechtal. The hike to Bernhardseck starts at the Geierwally car park in Elbigenalp. From there you pass the Hotel Alpenrose, on the left side of the Bernhardsbach in northern direction. After a few hundred meters the last houses are reached and the asphalted road becomes a gravel road. From now on it goes in constant gradient to the Gibler Alm. Shortly before the Gibler Alm, the path to Bernhardseck branches off to the left. The path leads through the forest in many wide bends. In contrast to the rest of the trail, the last part before the finish is very steep. An experienced hiker needs about 2 to 2.5 hours for the hike. During the winter months you can also return by toboggan. During the summer Bernhardseck can also be reached from Jöchelspitze via the Lechtaler Panoramweg. The Bernhardseck Hut is open in summer and partly in winter. After prior registration, an overnight stay as well as a pick-up or return transport is possible. Detailed information can be found on the homepage www.bernhardseck.at. The route to the mountain pasture can also be covered by mountain bike up to the last part.
