Fallerschein mountain pasture
Fallerschein is an alpine village southeast of Stanzach, which consists of more than 40 alpine huts. It is considered one of the largest mountain pasture villages in the Alps. It was inhabited throughout the year until a few centuries ago. Nowadays it is only used as a holiday settlement in the summer months. The alpine pasture settlement lies at just over 1300 m near Namlos village. The hike starts at the turn-off about 2 km before Namlos village on the Namloserstraße. There are several parking spaces next to the road. At the road barriers a road to Fallerschein alpine pasture starts. Please consider that the road is closed for regular traffic. The hike there is flat and the walking time is about 30 – 45 minutes. Currently there are two managed alpine huts in Fallerschein. The Michl's Fallerscheinstube snack station opens in summer from beginning of May and is expected to close in mid-October. The second alpine hut is the Sennstüberl Fallerschein, which opened in mid-June and closes again in mid-October. Michl's Fallerscheinstube also offers accommodation. Furthermore, there is also the possibility to rent or lease a hut, but there is no fixed water or electricity connection in the Fallerschein village. The alpine village Fallerschein is also the starting point for further mountain and hut tours, such as Namloser Wetterspitze peak, Elmer Kreuzspitze peak, Bschlaber Kreuzspitze peak, Anhalter Hut, and much more. For some time there has been the possibility to observe the native wild animals on own game observation stands. Especially worth seeing is the annual alpine pasture festival in Fallerschein alpine village.
