Freiburger Hut
The Freiburger Hut is an alpine club hut in the Lechquellen Mountains near Lech am Arlberg. The refuge is situated at 1931 m above lake Formarinsee. It has about 40 beds in shared rooms and 10 mattress dormitory places and a winter room with 12 places. The route from Lechtal valley to Lech am Arlberg can be covered during summer by hiking bus or by car. From Lech am Arlberg, a narrow road leads west past district of Zug. Along the toll road, which is temporarily closed to traffic, the valley continues inwards, past the Zuger Alpe hut to Formarinalpe alpine pasture. The route is closed to normal traffic from 08:00 to 16:30. Alternatively, the route can be covered with the hiking bus. During summer the buses usually run from 08:00 to 17:30. The walking time from Lech am Arlberg is about 4 hours. From Formarinalpe hut (1871 m) you need about half an hour to reach the hut. The Freiburger Hut can also be reached by mountain bike. Other ascents are also possible, such as from Dalaas or Braz to the hut. The neighboring huts of the Freiburger Hut are the Göppinger Hut and the Ravensburger Hut. The Göppinger hut is about 4 to 5 hours away, and the Ravensburger hut over the Steinerne Meer is about 3 hours away. Freiburger Hut is open from mid-June to the beginning of October. It is recommended to walk the route from Lech am Arlberg to Lake Formarinsee along the new Lech trail. (1st stage of the Lechweg: Formarinsee - Lech am Arlberg)
