Göppinger Hut
The Göppinger Hut is an alpine club hut in the Lechquellen Mountains. The refuge of category I is situated at an elevation of 2245 m at the edge of the Gamsboden. Göppinger Hut has 26 beds in shared rooms and 44 mattress dormitory places. In the winter room there are 8 mattress dormitory places. The ascent to the Göppinger hut begins in Lech am Arlberg. The route from Lechtal to Lech am Arlberg can be covered during summer by hiking bus or by car. From there it continues westwards past the district of Zug. Near Zug a toll road begins, which may only be used by buses, mountain bikers and pedestrians during the day. At the Unteren Älpele hut a footpath branches off towards Göppinger Hut. The hike to Unteren Älpele hut from Lech am Arlberg (2 to 3 hours) can also be done with the hiking bus. The buses run every 30 minutes from 08:00 to 17:30. Walking time from here to the finish is still about 2 hours. In the proximity of the hut several worthwhile summits lie like the 2600 m high Hochlichtspitze peak or the 2649 m high Braunarlspitze peak. The neighboring huts are the Freiburger Hut in the southwest, the Ravensburger Hut in the south and the Biberacher Hut in the north. The Freiburger Hut can be reached via Steinmayerweg alpine hiking trail in 3 to 4 hours (surefootedness required). Ravensburger Hut can be reached in about 4 hours via the normal route past Lake Spuller See. Göppinger hut is open from mid-June to the beginning of October.
