The hike to the Kaiseralm (or Kaiser Alpe) hut starts in Kaisers at Gasthof Vallugablick. The starting point can be reached during the summer months with the hiking bus, which runs almost hourly from Steeg to Kaisers. First part of the hike run flat on an asphalt road. The road changes to an unpaved forest road after about one kilometer. Here you still have the possibility to park your car. From now on the path climbs steadily uphill. First you hike through a spruce forest, then further past lush alpine pastures where cows graze in summer. The mountain pasture Kaiseralm is situated at 1689 m and a hike takes about 1.5 hours. The altitude difference is about 250 meters. On the alp you have the possibility to taste the typical alpine food. The Kaiseralm is also the starting point for further mountain and hut tours, such as the Kaiserjochhaus hut, the Vorderseespitze mountain, the Feuerspitze mountain or the Holzgauer Wetterspitze mountain. The path from Kaisers to the Frederic-Simms hut also passes the mountain pasture Kaiseralm. Kaiseralm hut is normally open from mid-June to mid-September.
