Kaiserjochhaus
The Kaiserjochhaus is refuge on the Kaiserjoch ridge in the Lechtal Alps. The alpine club hut at 2310 m has 55 places in the mattress camp (in 5 camps) and 12 places in the room camp (4 rooms). In the emergency camp of the Kaiserjochhaus there are 10 places available. Outside opening hours there are 10 places in “winter room” accessible with the Alpenverein key. Since the summer of 2005, the Kaiserjochhaus alpine hut has been awarded the Alpine Clubs's eco-label, as the energy and water supply as well as wastewater disposal have been brought up to date. The Kaiserjochhaus hut has no material rope bays and must therefore be supplied by helicopter. Currently, one night in the mattress camp costs €10 for AV members and €14 for non-members. The Kaiserjochhaus is located on the famous “Lechtaler Höhenweg” mountain trail and on the “Adlerweg” mountain trail from St. Anton to St. Johann in Tyrol. The easiest way to reach the Kaiserjochhaus is from the Gasthaus Vallugablick inn, which is located in mountain village Kaisers. This starting point is at about 1500 m and is reached several times a day by the hiking bus during summer season. There are several free parking spaces available for cars about 1 km into the Kaisertal valley. The first part of the hike runs along extensive alpine meadows and spruce forests to the Kaiseralpe hut. At the Kaiseralpe hut at 1689 m the hiking trail changes to the other bank of the Kaiserbach and a narrow path begins. The path runs on a moderate gradient, first on open ground, then through the forest. The further ascent to the Kaiserjochhaus continues between the Kaisersteinspitze peak and the Grießkopf peak into a swampy hollow. From there you can already see the Alpine Club hut on the Kaiserjoch. The Kaiserjochhaus is open from the end of June to the middle/end of September, depending on weather conditions. Worthwhile peaks in the surroundings are the Malatschkopf peak, the Grießkopf mountain or the Stanskogel mountain. For some time now, some E5 long-distance hikers have been using the route from Holzgau to Kaisers and via the Kaiserjochhaus hut as an alternative route. The refuge is connected with the “Lechtaler Höhenweg” mountain trail with the Leutkircher Hut in the west and with the Ansbacher Hut in the east. The walking time is 2 hours to Leutkircher Hut and 4 to 5 hours to Ansbacher Hut. From the Frederic-Simms-Hut you can reach the Kaiserjochhaus hut in about 5 hours. For a hiking tour from Kaisers to the Kaiserjochhaus hut it takes about 3 hours. From the Kaiserjochhaus it is possible to descend into the Stanzertal valley to Pettneu am Arlberg village, whereby about 3 to 4 hours can be expected.
The original path was affected by a rockfall in autumn 2011 and has not been accessible since then. In June 2012 a new path was built in a safe location and is already passable.
