Kaufbeurer Haus
The Kaufbeurer Haus is a self-catering hut in Urbeleskar in the Allgäu Alps moutain range. The refuge is located on the northern side of the Hornbach mountain range at an elevation of 2005 m. It is operated by the German Alpine Association and the hut keeper is only present on weekends. The ascent to the Kaufbeurer Haus hut takes about 3 hours from alpine vilalge Hinterhornbach. Kaufbeuer Haus is especially known for its beautiful location and the view. The Bretterspitze peak, the Urbeleskarspitze peak or the Gliegerkarspitze peak are worthwhile mountain tours in the surroundings. Of these three peaks, the top of the board is the easiest to climb, but easy climbing and alpine experience are always a prerequisite. The Urbeleskarspitze peak and the Gliegerkarspitze peak also require absolute freedom from vertigo and climbing. Kaufbeurer Haus is open from Whitsun to the beginning of October at weekends. Outside this time the winter camps are available. However, the alpine club key is required for this. An ascent is also possible from Häselgehr through the Hagler Valley in about 4 hours via the “Schwärzer-Scharte” (partly impassable terrain). Kaufbeurer Haus can also be reached from Hermann-von-Barth-Hut via Enzensperger Weg hiking trail. Surefootedness and alpine experience are prerequisites for an ascent to Kaufbeuerer Haus.
