Mindelheimer Hut
The Mindelheimer Hut is an Alpine Club hut in the Allgäu Alps. The Category I refuge is located at 2013 m in the south-eastern Walser Berge mountains. Mindelheimer Hut has 120 mattress dormitory places and 20 places in the winter room. It is operated by the German Alpine Association Section Mindelheim. The ascent to the hut can take place from several villages in the valley. From the south you can reach the Mindelheimer Hut from Lechleiten via the Schrofenpass mountain pass. Another possibility leads from Unterkrumbach past the Geisshorn mountain to the Alpine Club hut. The Mindelheimer Hut can be reached from the north from Kleinwalsertal valley. The neighboring huts of the Mindelheimer Hut are the Rappensee hut in the east, the Widderstein hut in the southwest and the Fiderepass hut in the north. A transition to the Rappensee hut runs over the Schrofenpass mountain pass and then over the Salzbüheljoch mountain pass. The walking time to the Rappensee hut is 4 to 5 hours. The path leads to the Widderstein-Hut via the Wildengundkopfsattel and the Gemstelpass. A popular via ferrata (Mindelheimer Klettersteig) is located near the Alpine Club hut. This via ferrata lies in the Schafalpenköpfe mountain. However, the 2.4 km long via ferrata should be started from the Fiderepass hut in order to avoid unwanted oncoming traffic. The Mindelheimer Hut is open from end of May to the beginning of October.
