Rappensee Hut
The Rappensee hut is an alpine club hut in the Allgäu Alps. It is located at 2091 m next to the lakes Großer and Kleiner Rappensee. Rappensee hut is one of the largest alpine club huts in the Allgäu and Lechtal Alps with about 300 mattress dormitory places and several beds in shared rooms. The ascent to the Rappensee hut from the Lechtal is possible via 2 different routes. The shorter of the two begins in Lechleiten, a district of the municipality of Steeg. From Lechleiten it takes about 2 to 3 hours to the Rappensee hut in the direction of Lechleitner Alm alpine pasture. The second option starts at the mouth of the Hochalptal valley between Steeg and Warth. This route takes about 4 hours to reach its destination via the Heilbronner Höhenweg alpine trail. Another opportunity for ascent begins in Oberstorf im Allgäu. The famous Heilbronner Höhenweg high trail from the Rappensee hut to the Kemptner hut starts near the Alpine Club hut. Worthwhile peaks in the surroundings of the hut are the Biberkopf mountain, the Hochrappenkopf mountain and the Hohes Licht summit. The Alpine Club Hut is open from mid-June to mid-October.
