Schneetalalm
The Schneetalalm lies at an elevation of 1650 m in the Tannheimer mountains. The alp is especially famous for the breathtaking view over the Tannheimer Tal valley. As a further highlight, the Schneetalalm hut offers insights into the local animal world. During the summer, numerous endangered species of domestic and farm animals can be admired on the mountain pasture. The alp is open during the summer and is popular with young and old for the hut evenings and various alpine specialties. The Schneetalalm is one of the few huts that are not yet accessible by road or cable car. For this reason the hut is supplied by helicopter. The easiest way to the Schneetalalm hut is from the top station of the cablecar Reuttener Bergbahnen in 45 minutes on a gravel path to the Schneetalalm hut. This starting point can be reached from Höfen with the Hahnenkamm cable car. With the Lechtal Aktiv Card you can travel up and downhill at a reduced rate of €3. Alternatively, you can reach the Schneetalalm in one and a half to two hours from Nesselwängle on a newly renovated hiking trail. The Gaichtspitze peak, the Hahnenkamm mountain and the Rote Flüh mountian are worthwhile peaks in the surroundings of the Schneetalalm. Schneetalalm hut is open from mid/end of May to the end of October, depending on the weather.
