The 2427 m high scratch marks a mountain in the Allgäu Alps. Particularly striking is the multi-peak and fragile structure, which reminds of the shape of a decayed rock ruin. The ascent from the Lech valley is via the Höhenbach valley to the Mädelejoch and further along the Heilbronner Weg in the direction of the Rappensee hut. After some time one branches off at the foot of the Kratzer-West summit and climbs up to the summit without a path over gravel and rocky terrain. No marked path leads to the scratch and the ascent requires alpine experience and surefootedness.
