Alpenrosensteig
The Alpenrosensteig leads from the Jöchelspitzbahn mountain station to Bernhardseck. You can reach the starting point at 1800 m either by mountain railway or on foot. From the Jöchelspitzbahn mountain station, the route heads east along the botanical nature trail to Lachenkopf. The new Bergheumuseum is located near Lachenkopf. From Lachenkopf you have a fantastic view of the Lechtal and the surrounding mountain landscape. The trail continues below the Jöchelspitze and the Lechtal panorama trail towards Bernhardseck. The area is known for its variety of mountain plants and wildlife. Shortly before Bernhardseck near the Heupillen you have the choice to go to Bernhardseck or to descend to Bach or Elbigenalp. The hike on the Alpenrosensteig to Bernhardseck takes about 2 hours. Bernhardseck is an alpine village and lies at 1812 m. The view of the lower Lechtal and the surrounding mountain landscape is unique. The best hiking season for the Alpenrosensteig is from the beginning of June to the beginning of October. The hut on Bernhardseck is open from the beginning of May to the middle of November. On Bernhardseck there is also the possibility to stay overnight in the camp. The descent from Bernhardseck to Elbigenalp takes 1.5 to 2 hours. The Bernhardseck Hut is also open in winter, but can only be reached from Elbigenalp.
