Bretterspitze
The Bretterspitze is a 2608 m high peak of the Allgäu Alps. The mountain lies in the Hornbach chain between the Lechtal village of Häselgehr and the side valley community of Hinterhornbach. These two places are also starting points for a climb to the summit of Bretterspitze. The route from Häselgehr to Bretterspitze starts at the church in Häselgehr. The starting point can be easily reached by car or by hiking bus. On a marked path we head north into the Hagler Valley. At almost 1700 m the path branches off in the direction of Gliegerkar and then continues towards the summit. The ascent from Häselgehr takes 4 to 5 hours. The ascent from Hinterhornbach starts at the bridge over the Hornbach. The path continues towards Urbeleskar, passing the Kaufbeurer Haus, which is only open on weekends. Shortly before the summit both routes meet and run along the same path to the summit. The ascent from Hinterhornbach is slightly shorter than from Häselgehr, but also takes about 4 hours. Both routes are marked. Climbing requires sure-footedness, easy climbing and alpine experience.
