Formarinsee – Lech am Arlberg
The first stage of the new Lechweg starts at the Lech spring near Lake Formarin and ends in Lech am Arlberg. The starting point of the Lechweg at Formarinsee is 12 km southwest of Lech am Arlberg. During the summer, the starting point can be easily reached by the hiking bus. The hiking bus runs up to five times a day from the centre of Lech am Arlberg to Lake Formarin. The starting point can only be reached by car via the toll road, which is closed to private traffic between 8.00 - 16.30 hours. The Lech, which gave its name to the Lechweg, rises in the immediate vicinity of the starting point. Numerous Alpine Club huts, such as the Freiburger-Hut, the Ravensburger Hut and the Göppinger Hut are located in the surrounding Lechquellen Mountains. The famous alpine karst plateau, the "Steinerne Meer" is located near the starting point. Lake Formarin, an alpine mountain lake, is only a few hundred metres from the starting point. A short detour to the mountain lake is recommended. On the way of the first stage of the Lechweg are the Lech forest swimming pool, a Kneipp facility and a fish pond in Zug. Fish can also be caught in the fish pond and then roasted.

Directions
The trail starts at Formarinalpe near Lake Formarin. The starting point is at an altitude of almost 1800 m. From here a footpath begins down the valley in the direction of Lech am Arlberg. We pass the lower Älpele, the Zuger Alpe and the district Zug. The last part of the first stage leads through the Lech district of Omesberg before you reach the centre of Lech am Arlberg, and thus the end of the first stage.
