Geierwally Wanderweg
The Geierwally circular hiking trail leads from Elbigenalp into Bernhardstal and back to Elbigenalp on the other side of the valley. You can start at the Schnitzschule in Elbigenalp or at the Hotel Alpenrose on the opposite side of the stream. The path described here starts at the Hotel Alpenrose. From the hotel we head for the Gibler Alm. The first few meters to the last houses are on an asphalted road, which soon leads into a gravel road. After about half an hour you reach the Gibler Alm. Here you have the possibility to stop. From here we continue into the valley through the forest. After another hour you cross the Bernhardsbach and the path runs on the other side of the valley back to Elbigenalp. On a short stretch the path runs along a narrow path. On the way back there is the Kasermandl, which is not farmed at the moment. The highest point is reached on the northern side of the valley near Kasermandl at about 1400 m. The total hiking time is about 3 hours and the altitude difference is about 400 m. There are plenty of free parking spaces at the Geierwally parking lot.
