Hägerauer Wasserfall
The approximately 80 m high Hägerau waterfall (also Grießbach waterfall) lies between Hägerau and Steeg on the southern side of the Lechtal. The Hägerau waterfall is fed by the Schreiterbach. The Schreiterbach springs in the area below the Griestaler Spitze, the Zwölferkopf, the Rotschrofenspitze and the Hahnleskopf. The waterfall is easily accessible via a gravel path from Hägerau or Steeg. The waterfall is usually completely icy in winter and is used for ice climbing. Below the waterfall there is a small pub. In the past, the waterfall was used to generate electricity. At the foot of the waterfall you can still see a dilapidated shed, which was used for this purpose. The waterfall lies on the Hägerauer Jochweg, which leads to Walchen. The waterfall can be reached from Steeg in about 30 minutes on a leisurely walk. The Hägerau waterfall is also easily accessible by bicycle. The waterfall can also be reached from Hägerau in about 30 minutes via the Hägerauer Field.
