Hängebrücke Holzgau
Since the end of October 2011 Holzgau im Lechtal one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in Austria. The suspension bridge is located near the well-known Simms-Wasserfall and leads at a height of 110 m over the Höhenbachschlucht. The 200 m long bridge is illuminated during the night and can be seen from the centre of Holzgau. The suspension bridge in Holzgau is freely accessible and can be used free of charge. The new 120 km long Lechweg leads over the suspension bridge, which leads from the source of the Lech at Lake Formarin to the Lechfall at Füssen. From Holzgau you can reach the suspension bridge via a circular path over the Gföll or in the opposite direction over the Schiggen. A hike along the circular trail takes 1 to 2 hours. At the village centre in Holzgau, which is the starting point you can park for free. The starting point can be easily reached with the hiking bus. There is the possibility to walk back to Holzgau from Schiggen via Café Uta and the Simms waterfall.
