Kogelsee
Lake Kogelsee is a mountain lake at an altitude of 2171 m in the Lechtal Alps. Lake Kogelsee, which lies under the Bockkar peaks, has a diameter of almost 200 m. Near Lake Kogelsee are two smaller lakes, the Gufelsee and the Parzinnsee. The ascent starts at 1321 m in Gramais and leads over the Otterbach valley or the Kogelkartal to the mountain lake. The shorter of the two routes is the one through the Kogelkartal. An ascent on the marked hiking trail takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. The second more difficult route also starts in Gramais, which is known as the 3 Lakes Circuit. From Gramais it goes through the Otterbachtal to the Branntweinböden and then further over the Gufeljöchl in front to the first lake of the hiking route, the Gufelsee. From Gufelsee the trail continues via Gufeseeljöchl to Parzinnsee. A little above the lake the path branches off to Kogelsee and it goes between Kogelseespitze and Plattenspitzen via Kogelseescharte to Kogelsee. This route is quite time consuming and some parts are secured with ropes. Climbing skills and surefootedness are absolute prerequisites for this tour. But those who take on the exertions will be rewarded with the unique beauty of this area.
