Steeg – Bodenalpe – Erlachalpe
The Erlachalpe lies at 1919 m in the Almajur valley in the middle of the Lechtal Alps. The Almajur valley with the Kaisertal is part of a side valley of the Lechtal which flows into the Lechtal near Steeg. The MTB tour to Erlachalpe starts at the village centre in Steeg. The starting point can be easily reached by bus or car. There are also some free parking spaces available. The tour runs along the Kaiserer Straße to Kienberg, which starts at the Dickenauer Bridge in Steeg. The road starts moderately steep and after 3 km you reach the junction Almajurtal. From here the road runs flat to the Kaiserer district Boden. A few metres after Boden you cross the Kaiserbach and reach the entrance of the Almajur valley. After crossing the Kaiserbach, the path becomes steeper again and the asphalted farm road leads into a gravel road. The path runs on a moderate gradient through spruce forests and alpine meadows. The Almajur valley is an insider tip among those seeking peace and quiet in the middle of the Lechtal Alps. After about one and a half hours driving time and 10 km distance you reach the Bodenalpe at 1564 m. The Bodenalpe is open from the beginning of June to mid-September. There is the possibility to drive further into the Almajur valley to Erlachalpe at 1919 m. However, the gravel road gets noticeably worse. On the Erlachalpe there is the possibility to stop off during the summer season. For an MTB tour to Erlachalpe you should plan 2 to 2.5 hours. The tour to the Bodenalpe is to be classified as medium, the tour further to the Erlachalpe is to be classified as difficult.
