Steinsee
Lake Steinsee in the Lechtal Alps lies at 2222 m below the Dremelspitze. The Steinsee has a length of about 180 m and a width of 100 m. Steinsee is the eponym of the Steinsee-Hut, which lies 200 m below the lake. The Steinsee can be reached from the Lechtal via the front or rear Dremelscharte from Boden/Bschlabs. The ascent takes place on a well-marked path to the Hanauer Hut. From the Hanauer Hut we continue in the direction of the front Dremelscharte. The highest point is reached at 2434 m on the front Dremelscharte, then one descends to the lake. From the Hanauer Hut in the direction of Steinsee it is recommended to take the rear crenel, as the descent is not so steep. From Steinsee towards Hanauer Hut it is better to take the path over the front Dremelscharte. The walking time from Boden to Steinsee is 4 to 5 hours. The Steinsee can also be reached from Gramais via a section of the Lechtaler Höhenweg and the Steinsee-Hut in about 5 hours. From Steinsee you can descend into the Upper Inn Valley to Zams or Schönwies. The E4 alpin or the Lechtaler Höhenweg running on the same route leads past Steinsee. In the surroundings of Lake Steinsee there are numerous climbing gardens and fixed rope routes, such as the climbing garden at Steinkarpfeiler, the climbing gardens at Schneekarle or the Steinsee fixed rope route to Steinkarspitze. Refreshment stops and accommodation in the area are the Hanauer Hut and the Steinsee Hut 20 minutes below.
