Stuttgarter Hut – Leutkircher Hut
The Stuttgarter Hut is located on the Krabachjoch in the Lechtal Alps. The Alpine Club hut at 2305 m is the easiest to reach from the Lechtal from Steeg. The path to Leutkircher Hut leads from the Stuttgarter Hut in eastern direction over the Erlijoch, 2430 m high, between Erlispitze and Fanggekarspitze. On the other side of the Erlijoch lies the Erlachalpe in the Almajur valley directly below the Valluga. From Erlachalpe at 1922 m you can descend via the Almajur valley to Kaisers. The further way to the Leutkircher Hut leads over the Stapfe-Tobel below the Arlberger via ferrata to the Almajurjoch, where the Leutkircher Hut lies at the eastern end at 2261 m. The Stapfe-Tobel leads in a steep flank facing north. This stretch of road can be particularly dangerous in snow/wet conditions. The walk from the Stuttgarter Hut to the Leutkircher Hut takes about 4 hours. Alpine experience, freedom from vertigo and surefootedness are absolutely necessary for an ascent! The Stapfe-Tobel is often affected by mudslides or other weather influences, so one should inform oneself about the state of the way and/or the circumstances with a local expert before an inspection (e.g. with the landlords of the surrounding alpine club huts). The Stapfe-Tobel can be avoided by descending from the Erlachalpe (1922 m) to the Bodenalpe (1560 m) and ascending again via the normal path to the Leutkircher Hut.
