Vordersee und Hintersee
Vordersee and Hintersee is the name of two mountain lakes in the Lechtal Alps. The two lakes lie below the 2889 m high Vorderseespitze separated by Hinterseejöchl. The lakes are located at 2200 m(Hintersee) and 2300 m(Vordersee) and have a diameter of approx. 150 m. Depending on the season, the diameter can vary greatly. The long-distance hiking trail E4 alpin and the Lechtaler Höhenweg lead from Kaiserjochhaus via the Kridlonscharte to Hintersee and then via Hinterseejöchl to Vordersee. The mountain lakes can be reached from the Lechtal of Kaisers via the Kaiserjochhaus or from Bach via the Alperschon Valley. An ascent is possible from Kaisers via the Kaiserjochhaus or from Bach through the Madau or Alperschontal. The way from Kaisers, which is the shorter of the two, takes 3 to 4 hours (Photo: Willi Weissensteiner).
