Wildmahdspitze
The Wildmahdspitze is a 2489 m high peak of the Peischel group in the Allgäu Alps. The most easy way to climb the striking rocky peak with its several hundred meter high north face is from Steeg or Hägerau. From Steeg you follow the Paul-Scharf-Höhenweg towards Hager. At the beginning of the narrow path just before the highest point, the path branches off towards Wildmahdspitze or Holzgauer Muttekopf. It is also possible to get there from Hägerau via the Hägerauer Waldweg and the Hirchenquelle. The path follows a constant gradient along the steep grassy slopes of the Hager. In the upper end of the Hager one passes by a hunting lodge and it goes over the nail head further to the Wildmahdkar. At the dilapidated Wildmahdalpe, the path to Wildmahdspitze branches off from the path to Holzgauer Muttekopf. The path leads first over scree, later in the rock with easy climbing to the summit of the Wildmahdspitze. The walking time from Steeg or Hägerau is about 4 hours and the alpine difficulty UIAA I to UIAA II. The ascent is not recommended in the wet, as the grassy slopes of the Hager are very steep. Since the ascent routes are very sparse or not marked and the trail is only partially visible, special care should be taken.
