Zwölferkopf
The Zwölferkopf is a 2310 m high peak in the upper Lechtal. The mountain lies between Peischelspitze and Hahnleskopf in the Lechtal Alps. The ascent to Zwölferkopf takes place from the Holzgau district of Dürnau. The starting point can be easily reached by hiking bus or by car. The trail starts in Dürnau at the last houses and leads directly into the larch forest. After a few hundred meters through the forest it starts to get steeper. After about half an hour you reach the 1335 m high Freudenegg, an insignificant point. Continue on the right side of the valley through the Wildtal, which is quite steep in places. Further up the path changes sides of the valley and it goes up to the Zwölferkopf below the imposing Grießtalerspitze. The mountain tour up to the Zwölferkopf requires sure-footedness and alpine experience. The trail up to the Zwölferkopf is already quite overgrown in places and very difficult to see. Sometimes the terrain is quite steep, especially in the middle part through the Wildtal! For a tour up to the Zwölferkopf you can expect an ascent duration of 3 to 4 hours. It is recommended to ask a local mountain guide about the current state of the route and the exact route before the tour! Stepping safety and alpine experience are essential for an ascent.
