Karhorn via ferrata
The Karhorn via ferrata is located near Warth in the Lechquellengebirge. The easy accessibility and the varied passages distinguish this via ferrata. This via ferrata is particularly suitable for all those who are in the beginning of their via ferrata career. After the easier first part you can decide whether you choose the more difficult west ridge as a descent variant from the top of the Karhorn or take the normal route to the foot of the wall (some places to A/B). Nonetheless, vertigo, surefootedness and appropriate equipment are obligatory for an inspection.access
Access to the Karhorn via ferrata starts in the centre of Warth. From there one walks in a westerly direction in the direction of the Wartherhornbahn and then onto the Wartherhornsattel (entrance of the via ferrata). Alternatively, you can take the Steffisalp-Express chairlift to the top station and then climb to the Wartherhornsattel, which can be reached from there in approx. 45 minutes.part east ridge
The ascent takes place along the Karhorn East Ridge in difficulty level B/C. (mostly A/B, two places more difficult) After about 2 hours the first part of the via ferrata at the top of the Karhorn is done. Here you have the possibility to climb the second part of the via ferrata via the west ridge or to descend along a path via the normal path to the foot of the Karhorn wall.part west ridge
The second part of the Karhorn via ferrata leads about 600 meters from the top of the Karhorn along the west ridge. This part was established in 2009 and is a bit more difficult than the first part with the difficulty level C/D. The way back to Warth is via the Wartherhorn saddle on the south and east side of the Karhorn. On the way back, you can climb the Wartherhorn in a few minutes from the Wartherhorn saddle.
