Lechtaler Höhenweg: from Kaiserjochhaus to Ansbacher Hütte
The third stage of the Lechtaler Höhenweg leads from Kaiserjochhaus to Ansbacher Hütte. The highlights on this stage of the Lechtaler Höhenweg are certainly the views of Hintersee and Vordersee. The stage starts at the Kaiserjochhaus at 2310 m and immediately leads over meadows to the east. After a few hundred meters you reach rock-covered terrain and there are also some rope-insured passages to overcome. After crossing the Kridlonscharte one immediately sees the deep blue Hintersee and then descends a few meters over a kind of rock chimney in the rope-insured area. After crossing one side along rubble and scree, the ascent follows serpentines to the 2481 m high Hinterseejoch. On the opposite side the path leads down in partly earthy terrain in numerous serpentines towards the Vordersee. At Vordersee starts the Theodor-Haas-Weg, on which one crosses the steep and sloping flanks and channels of Vorderseespitze. Some of the exposed and sloping passages are insured with ropes. The last part of the stage leads from the Alperschonjoch to the Flarschjoch and then down again a few metres. After crossing a steep grass flank you reach the Ansbacher Hut. The Ansbacher Hütte lies on the south-eastern slope of the Samspitze and offers a fabulous view of the Stanzertal and the surrounding Tyrolean mountains. The walking time for this stage is about five hours. The Ansbacher Hütte is open from the end of June to the end of September.
