The Sulzlalm in the upper Lechtal

The first hike in the 2015 season took us to the Sulzlalm in the upper Lech valley. The alp lies at 1466 m in the Lechtal Alps near Stockach/Bach. The main attraction of the hike to Sulzlalm are several rock tunnels that have to be crossed. The up to 100 meter long rock tunnels run in a rock face and were blown up into the rock. Between the rock tunnels you can enjoy a breathtaking view into the Lech valley below. This made the hike to the Sulzlalm an experience for young and old. The longer tunnels are partly quite dark, therefore it is recommended to take a smaller torch.

The Sulzlalm is cultivated and the alpine pasture staff feeds the visitors with traditional Tyrolean alpine food.

Hiking:

The starting point is a well signposted parking lot on the upper edge of Stockach in the upper Lech valley. The car can be parked there free of charge. The starting point can also be easily reached by public transport due to the nearby bus stop. From there it goes on foot along the right side of the Sulzlbach to the hamlet Sulzlbach. A well signposted hiking trail to the Sulzlalm begins. The walking time from Stockach to Sulzlalm is about one and a half hours.

The Sulzlalm has been reopened since June and is expected to close in mid-October - it is open daily, there is no rest day!
